The existing site treated every story the same way, flattening photo essays and long-form writing into one generic template.
Process
Designed a small set of composable layout modules editors could mix per story, backed by a type scale tuned for long reading sessions.
Outcome
Average read time increased and the editorial team could ship new story formats without engineering support.
